Your next role
As Cost and Carbon Engineer, you will be responsible for providing accurate and up to date asset costs, which are used throughout the asset life cycle for estimating, risk assessment, benchmarking, portfolio optimisation, value management, and benefits realisation.
In this newly created role within Investment Programme Management, you’ll be part of an expert team that evaluates whether the business’ asset investment plans are optimised, achieving the balance between cost, risk, and performance.
What you’ll be doing
You will take the lead in creating, maintaining, and applying asset cost capture processes and models, establishing this capability and setting this up as a BAU function within the business. You’ll also work closely with the carbon and natural capital leads to establish and maintain carbon unit costs for our assets.
In this highly visible role, you’ll collaborate with teams across the business to implement processes for consistent and regular asset cost capture.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a new capability within the Asset Strategy & Capital Delivery function, which will be instrumental in ensuring Affinity Water achieves best value for money and a great outcome from the regulatory Price Review (PR24).
What you’ll need
You’ll be educated to degree level in an engineering, costing or accounting discipline. Experience in a similar asset costing role within a regulated industry is essential as you’ll have a technical understanding of asset costs.
You’ll be highly numerate with the ability to understand and analyse asset and cost data, plus you’ll also have great interpersonal skills and be able to work successfully with multiple stakeholders.
