Your next role
As a Microbiology Scientist within the Scientific Services team at Affinity Water, you’ll be part of a team that ensures the drinking water in the south-east of England is safe, compliant and of the highest quality.
Working in our modern, innovative and UKAS accredited laboratory, you’ll support the Microbiology team to perform routine and non-routine analysis of water samples.
Using your laboratory experience, you will analyse, interpret and communicate this data both verbally and in report format – troubleshooting and investigating when samples don’t meet the water quality standard.
Operating within a routine environment where quality control procedures are key, you’ll ensure the delivery of operational excellence and play an active part in driving continuous improvements and innovation.
What you’ll need
You’ll have a recognised degree in a science-based subject and experience of working in an analytical and process-driven environment, ideally within a laboratory. You’ll recognise the importance of health, safety and environmental protection when it comes to water quality and you’ll be committed to achieving our ‘zero harm’ commitment.
You’ll value collaborative working and have excellent interpersonal skills. Challenges will face you head-on in this often time-critical environment, but you’ll have a logical approach and resilient attitude to take these in your stride, prioritising your workload effectively.
What's in it for you
The work you'll do is essential for Affinity Water to meet its compliance regulations and continue to deliver safe, clean drinking water to 3.7 million customers every day. In return, you'll be entitled to a host of benefits including a double-matching pension scheme, on-the-job training, support with professional fees and a holiday allowance that increases with length of service. So the longer you stay, the more you gain.
The Science Council also recognise the Affinity Water laboratory as an Employer Champion and CPD Approved Employer, meaning you'll benefit from great learning and development opportunities to grow your career.
