Street Works Performance Lead

We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Street Works Performance Lead to join our team and lead the way in delivering exceptional Street Works performance across our network. In this role, you'll ensure we not only comply with legal and regulatory standards—including the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991 and the Traffic Management Act (TMA) 2004—but also continuously improve how we operate.
Reporting to the Permit Process Manager, you’ll be the business’s subject matter expert on Lane Rental, taking ownership of cost control and performance improvement. You’ll work closely with local authorities, internal teams, contractors, and industry forums to manage risk, drive efficiencies, and help Affinity Water achieve industry-leading standards in Street Works.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as Affinity Water’s subject matter expert for Lane Rental, owning the process and performance outcomes
- Proactively managing Lane Rental costs and identifying opportunities for reduction
- Educating and training both internal and external stakeholders on Lane Rental processes and compliance
- Collaborating with Highways Authorities and representing AW in Lane Rental forums
- Supporting investigations and improvement strategies related to Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs)
- Leading stakeholder performance meetings and contributing to continuous process improvement
- Providing data insights and support to operational teams
- Delivering NRSWA training and toolbox talks to site staff
What We’re Looking For
- In-depth knowledge of NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004, and associated Codes of Practice
- Strong understanding of Permit Schemes, Lane Rental schemes, and their operation
- Experience with Street Manager and Aurora systems
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data sets
- Highly organised with a meticulous attention to detail
- Confident communicator who can challenge constructively and influence change
- Proven stakeholder management skills in multi-stakeholder environments
- Understanding of the Safety Code (Red Book)
- Knowledge of Works Management systems such as Maximo or FLS (desirable)

- Salary £42,000 - £46,000 per annum dependant on experience
