At Affinity Water, we’re on a mission to simplify the journey for our customers through new developments. Our Development Experience programme plays a vital role in delivering high-quality water supply connections across the region, including new mains, service connections, strategic reinforcements, and more.
We are now looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our passionate and dedicated team — someone who thrives on commercial excellence, stakeholder collaboration, and making a measurable impact.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Quantity Surveyor within our Development Experience team, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring that our contract partners are paid fairly, accurately, and on time. You’ll manage monthly payment applications, challenge and validate claims, and serve as the critical link between our internal teams and external delivery partners.
This role goes beyond numbers. You’ll work cross-functionally to improve processes, provide commercial insights, and act as a key contact on commercial matters — all with the goal of enhancing our Developer and Customer journey.
Your Key Accountabilities:
- Manage monthly assessments and payment applications with contract partners
- Provide commercial coaching to internal teams
- Oversee Early Warnings and Compensation Events, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Lead financial audits and ensure alignment with contractual obligations
- Support budget and purchase order processes across schemes
- Maintain up-to-date records in corporate systems
- Conduct site audits to verify contract pricing accuracy
- Drive continuous improvement of commercial procedures to enhance performance
- Champion a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture
- Build collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
What You’ll Bring:
Essential:
- Strong experience managing NEC contracts
- Proven commercial acumen in a customer-centric environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and guiding internal teams
- Data-driven mindset with an eye for detail
- Zero tolerance for poor safety and health performance
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities
Why Join Us?
This is a pivotal role in a department that’s setting benchmarks within the water industry. You’ll have the autonomy to shape processes, influence decision-making, and build long-term partnerships — all while ensuring our services remain cost-effective and customer-focused.
