At Affinity Water, our Design team plays a vital role in making the application and quotation process simple, clear, and efficient for our customers.
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join us on a 18 month FTC to deliver high-quality water mains designs while supporting customers through the early stages of their journey. From application through to payment, you’ll ensure designs are accurate, cost-effective, and easy to understand.
You’ll work closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams to produce compliant designs, challenge costs, and ensure schemes are ready for delivery. With a strong focus on safety, water quality, and minimising disruption, you’ll also carry out the Designer role under CDM, ensuring risks are identified and managed from the outset.
What you’ll be doing:
Producing and reviewing water mains designs, including third-party submissions
Supporting customers through applications, design, and cost queries
Ensuring designs meet safety, regulatory, and company standards
Collaborating with contractors and stakeholders to deliver efficient solutions
Preparing design documentation, cost advice, and construction information
What we’re looking for:
Experience in a design or engineering role within utilities
Strong understanding of water networks and customer-focused delivery
Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong technical capability
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Must be able to travel into our Hatfield office a min of 2 days per week
Benefits:
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 dependant on skills and experience
