Asset Health Technical Manager

At Affinity Water, we're looking for an experienced Asset Health Technical Manager to play a pivotal role in how we understand asset condition, quantify risk, and make evidence-based investment decisions that deliver long-term value for customers.
This is a unique opportunity to influence asset strategy, resilience, and investment planning as we prepare for PR29 and beyond, working across Strategy, Operations, Capital Delivery, Digital, Data and Regulatory teams.
About the Role
As the technical authority for asset health and risk, you will lead the development of methodologies, standards and governance frameworks that support robust asset management and investment planning. You'll connect asset condition data, deterioration modelling, criticality assessments and risk insights to help drive smarter decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and continuous improvement of asset health, deterioration, criticality and risk methodologies.
Establish standards for assessing, monitoring and reporting asset health across asset classes.
Embed asset health and risk frameworks into investment planning and decision-making processes.
Translate asset condition and risk evidence into practical intervention and investment strategies.
Improve the integration of asset health data within asset management and decision-support systems.
Provide technical leadership on emerging regulatory requirements relating to asset health and investment planning.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for improving asset performance.
You'll ideally bring:
A degree in Engineering, Asset Management or a related discipline.
Experience in asset management, asset health or risk management within the water sector or another regulated utility environment.
Expertise in developing asset health, deterioration, criticality or risk assessment methodologies.
Knowledge of asset information systems, inspection data and work management systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations.
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
IAM Certificate or Diploma and knowledge of ISO55001.
Experience using GIS, Qlik, Maximo or similar enterprise asset management systems.
Knowledge of investment optimisation, risk frameworks or decision analysis methodologies.

Salary £54,000 - £65,000 dependant on skills and experience
