We usually respond within a week
As the UK transitions to net zero by 2050, we are taking bold steps to prepare our infrastructure, operations and supply chain for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead both the thinking and the doing—developing climate strategy and embedding it into business-wide action.
You’ll take ownership of our climate change adaptation and mitigation approach, leading cross-functional work to understand risks, identify solutions, and support delivery across our business.
We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, influence and implementation. An individual who can craft a compelling direction and bring others with them. This role is ideal for someone with a background in climate or sustainability consulting, or similar, who is ready to apply their experience within an organisation to deliver lasting impact.
If you're motivated by the opportunity to lead, deliver, and shape how a business adapts to climate change, we'd love to hear from you.
The role sits within our Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery directorate working alongside other like-minded people in our Water Resources and Environmental team and reports into the Climate Change and Carbon Manager.
Purpose of the role
To lead our strategic response to climate change by identifying physical climate risks and embedding effective adaptation across the business. This role will ensure our assets, operations and plans are resilient to future climate conditions, helping safeguard services, protect customers, and support long-term environmental and business sustainability.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental science, sustainability, engineering, geography, climate policy, or similar)
- Proven experience in developing and delivering climate change strategies (adaptation and/or mitigation) within a business or consultancy context
- Strong experience in working across functions to embed strategy into operations, capital delivery, or business planning
- Demonstrable ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders—including senior leaders and technical experts
- Experience of translating technical or policy insight into clear, actionable recommendations
